Krakow’s wide range of 4 star hotels often offer excellent value for money
Anyone looking to take a city break in Krakow is usually able to choose from a wide range of very good, centrally located hotels ranging from 3 star to 5 star. Standards are generally pretty high, whether you’re looking at a small family-run 3 star or a large 5 star hotel.
In this blog I’ll concentrate on the 4 star hotels which can offer exceptional value for money and in some cases will cost very little more than a 3 star. Indeed, it’s always worth looking out for special offers which include a free upgrade to a 4 star hotel.
Those who prefer a traditional style, almost old-fashioned hotel will enjoy a stay at the Ostoya Palace. Housed in the renovated 19th-century Ostaszewski Palace this comfortable hotel is located only 10 minutes from Kraków’s Main Market Square. Amenities incude a bar/lounge and a coffee shop/café. Sauna and massage treatments can be booked at reception.
Another very popular traditional style hotel is the Francuski, with its grand exterior which blends beautifully with the neighbouring historical buildings. The lobby, with its polished marble floor creates a wonderful first impression of the hotel. The Francuski lies close to the Barbican, with the Main Market Square being only a few minutes’ walk away. The hotel’s charming restaurant offers a range of Polish and international cuisine. There are often some excellent deals to be found at the Francuski, offering great value for money.
The 4 star Hotel Rubinstein is another very popular choice, this time located in the heart of Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter of Krakow. The hotel has a pervading sense of old-world charm. From the beautifully sculptured ceilings to the majestic staircase, style and elegance are visible everywhere. From the hotel it is just a 10-minute walk to the beautiful Wawel Royal Castle. Also nearby are Galicia Jewish Museum and Wawel Cathedral.
Anyone preferring a larger, more modern 4 star hotel will be attracted to Andel’s Hotel. The 159 rooms are of an excellent size and are well furnished with modern amenities. Breakfast is served every morning at the Delight Restaurant, which serves international and Polish specialities. In the evening guests can relax in the sauna or work out in the fitness centre, or maybe just enjoy a drink in the well stocked bar. The hotel is located just 100 metres from the main railway station and the newest shopping centre in Krakow, but also just 10 minutes walk from Krakow’s old town.
